Sarah Hunter, Visual Artist
Meet Sarah Hunter
Sarah Hunter was born in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Close enough to enjoy adventuring into the city of Pittsburgh while living day to day immersed in the nature that inspires her work. As a child Sarah spent many hours in the woods playing, hiking, discovering, and creating. These experiences fed her creativity and deeply rooted a desire to always be connected to nature.
Sarah’s mission with art is to enhance the lives of those who interact with her work or take lessons from her. Sarah states “If these interactions lead to a deeper understanding of oneself or others and/or a deeper connection to nature, it would be my greatest joy.”
She currently operates out of her home studio in Greensburg, PA and has focused on turning her yard into a pollinator garden, apiary, and outdoor living and learning space when the weather permits. Sarah states, “My favorite place to create is outdoors, it’s where my creative soul is most free”.
Sarah offers lessons in acrylic and watercolor painting and pottery to various ages and skill levels. She states “Art is for everyone; it is never too early and it is never too late.” Her students enjoy working in her indoor studio as well as outdoors when seasonally appropriate.
In addition to teaching Sarah sells her paintings and pottery at Latrobe Art Center, The Manos Gallery, Green Beacon Gallery, various exhibitions and festivals in the region, and in her online shop.
Sarah’s paintings are focused on emotive abstractions of humanity and nature. She specializes in acrylic paintings but also enjoys working with watercolors. Sarah has always enjoyed working with clay. In 2021 she began the journey of learning pottery. Inspired by the connection of the clay to the earth she fell in love with the medium. Sarah strongly believes in art interacting in everyday life and pottery has offered a very accessible way to provide that to others.
